Johann Valentin Meder
Lauda Jerusalem Dominum
Quid est hoc quod sentio
Ach Herr, mich armen Sünder
Gott, mein Herz ist bereit
Die höllische Schlange darf nimmer uns beißen
Wünschet Jerusalem Glück
Vox mitte clamorem
Wie murren denn die Leut’ im Leben also?
Meine Seele seutzt und stöhnet (Andächtige Communion-Musique)
Gott, du bist derselbe mein König
The Goldberg Baroque Ensemble from Gdansk, conducted by Andrzej Szadejko, presented an amazing selection of sacred music (Dabringhaus and Grimm) by Medera as part of the Musica Baltica series. The externalized, modest passion cantata “Ach, Herr, mich armen Sunder,” which approaches the best works of Dieterich Buxtehude, is also included, as is the musical celebration of Jesus’ mystical love “Vox mitte clamorem,” which simply overflows with a dance-like, thoroughly Italian sensuality. An addition by Anu Schaper informs us about the Turin master that made its way to Riga and Tallinn. A true discovery! – Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung
